What is the tattoo process?
First we start with a consultation where you and your artist will go over design ideas, sizing, placement and pricing. Next, schedule an appointment or get it on the spot as a walk-in if possible. Please remember to be on time for your appointment. Congratulations on your new tattoo! Finally your artist will go over aftercare instructions and allow you to ask any questions you may have.

Do you accept walk ins?
Yes Penns & Needles accepts walk-ins during normal business hours if an artist is available. For larger, more intricate pieces we recommend you schedule an appointment with your artist. If you are unsure if you should schedule an appointment or want to know if your preferred artist is available for walk-ins, give the shop a call and just ask!

Do you require deposits for tattoo appointments?
Yes, we do require a deposit for each tattoo appointment. This ensures you will show up to your appointment on time and prepared.
The deposit you leave will be applied to the total cost of your tattoo. For example if your tattoo will cost $250 and you leave $100 deposit. You will only be required to pay $150 on the day of your appointment.

Do tattoos hurt? Do you offer numbing cream?
Pain threshold varies by person, but typically yes, getting a tattoo can hurt. The pain will be less or greater depending on the area you’re looking to have tattooed.
Some of our artist do offer numbing creams but it is recommended to have the numbing cream applied prior to your appointment.

Do you offer piercings? What about cover ups?
Yes we have a full time piercer at our shop.
All of our artists offer cover ups.

How old do I have to be to get a tattoo or piercing?
You must be 18 or older to get a tattoo or piercing by yourself. (Yes we check I.D.).
A general rule is 16 years old with parental permission and proper documentation for tattoos and piercings.
Certain piercing such as Ear Piercings can be performed on people/children of any age older than 1 year. Proper documentation is required.

How much does a tattoo cost?
There is no “one price fits all” for tattoos. The cost of your tattoo will depend on many factors such as the size, placement, amount of detail and whether or not it may have color. Also, every artist charges differently. It is best to reach out to your specific artist.
Some sessions can be priced x amount for x hours. Always check our shop and your artists specials for the best pricing.

Can I bring a friend to my appointment?
Yes you may bring a friend/family member/neighbor with you although we ask you limit your visitors to 1 extra person since we do have a smaller studio.

What is "Proper Identification"?
For people over the age of 18 you must have some sort of Photo Identification such as Lincense, I.D. or passport.
For minors we require a parent or legal guardian to be present and have there proper identification. Also we will need a birth certificate for the minor, and some sort of photo I.D such as a school I.D.
